ESU7 New Web Mail System

 

The new e-mail system will require both webmail users and email client users to change their browser or email client settings. Please see the links below for detailed instructions.
Current TWIG/Squirrel Users
Select your preferred Internet browser
Email Program Users
Please choose your preferred email program
Internet Explorer

Please note that after October 31, 2005, TWIG/Squirrel will no longer be supported and these links will no longer work. Use this time to transfer what you need off the old server.

Note: These instructions will guide you through how to move email from your old Inbox to your new Inbox. If you have sorted your mail into folders in TWIG or Squirrel, transferring your folders requires a special procedure. Please contact your LAN Manager for details.

1. Log into the new mail system by typing your username and password at http://esu7.org:8081.

Example: Username: jdoe@esu7.org Password: current password

2. Click the External Mail button.

3. A pop-up window will appear.
a. Type oldmail.esu7.org for the POP server.
b. Type your username (jdoe) for the POP user ID.
c. Type your password for the Password.

4. UNCHECK Delete Messages from server. This will leave a copy of the existing e-mail intact on the old server.

5. Click the collect botton.

The system will collect the mail in your Inbox from the old email server and copy it to your Inbox on the new system.

Note:
Your address book will NOT transfer to the new mail system. Users will have to print their existing address book and manually reenter the address book in the new system.


 

Squirrel:
1. Log into your Squirrel webmail account.
2. Click Addresses.
3. Print this page.

TWIG:
1. Log into your TWIG webmail account.
2. Click Contacts
3. Print this page.

Firefox (Windows)
1. Open Firefox and choose Options from the Tools menu.
2. Highlight Web Features. Click the Allowed Sites button to the right of the Block Popup Windows.
3. In the Address of web site field, type esu7.org and click Allow.
4. Click OK. Click OK again.

Firefox (Macintosh OS X)
1. Open Firefox and choose Preference under the Firefox menu.
2. Highlight Web Features . Click the Allowed Sites button to the right of Block Popup Windows.
3. In the Address of web site field, type esu7.org and click Allow.
4. Click OK. Click OK again.

Safari (Macintosh OS X)
1. Open Safari and choose Preferences under the Safari menu.
2. Choose the Security button.
3. Verify that Block pop-up windows is not checked.
4. Close Preferences window.

Eudora (Windows)
1. Open Eudora and choose the In box.
2. Choose Tools from the upper menu, then Options.
3. From the Getting Started category, insert the full e-mail address (jdoe@esu7.org) in the User Name field.
4. Switch to the Check Mail category and verify that your username has changed to your full e-mail address. If not, please enter your full e-mail address in the User Name field.
5. Close the Options window and check your e-mail.

Eudora (Macintosh OS X)
1. Open Eudora and choose Settingsfrom the Special menu.
2. From the Getting Started category, insert your full e-mail address (jdoe@esu7.org) in the User Name field.
3. Switch to the Check Mail category and verify that your username has changed to your full e-mail address. If not, please enter your full e-mail address in the User Name field.
4. Click OK, to close the Settings menu and check your mail.

Outlook Express 6 (Windows)
1. Open Outlook Express and choose Accounts from the Tools menu.
2. Select the Mail tab.
3. Highlight your mail account, and click Properties.
4. Click the Servers tab, then enter your full e-mail address (jdoe@esu7.org) in the Account Name field.
5. Click Apply.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Close and check your e-mail.

Thunderbird (Windows & Macintosh OS X)
1. Open Thunderbird and choose Account Settings from the Tools menu.
2. Highlight Server Settings from the list on the left.
3. Enter your full e-mail address (jdoe@esu7.org) in the User Name field.
4. Click OK. Click OK again and check your mail.
