The Admission Process...

When should I apply?

Admission applications should be filed in the Fall semester of your senior year.  Colleges will accept applications throughout the year but only the applications filed by the college's priority deadline can be considered for scholarships.  It is recommended that any student applies to at least two colleges.  This will help students to compare the colleges and financial aid offers.

What information do colleges use to accept or reject a student?

Colleges look at test scores, grades, class schedule, difficulty of class, class rank, school and community involvement as well as recommendations.  Colleges want a well-rounded person who will contribute to their campus.  There are three different methods colleges will use:

Selective Admission: These colleges have application deadlines

and set criteria to be admitted.

Rolling Admission:   These colleges accept or reject students based

upon their criteria until their freshman enrollment is filled.

Open Admission:   This college will accept anyone with a valid high school diploma.

Students are accepted until the classes are full.

What will happen after I am accepted?

After a student is accepted their admission representative will be in contact with the student.  The college will be sending out scholarship and financial aid information and most likely need a deposit to hold the student's spot in the class.

What questions should I ask when making my final choice on a college?

Does the college have my major?  Do I feel comfortable on the campus?  Do I feel comfortable in the town?  Does the school offer activities that I want to be involved in?  Tour the campus and ask the representative questions!!
