Mock Trial is the re-enactment of a trial in which students assume the roles of actual lawyers and witnesses to learn about the legal system and how trials work.

The Case

K.C. Jones is accused of illegally copying the music off of the internet.  He alleges that any alleged copyrighted songs appearing on his computer are the results of someone spoofing his computer, or are the results of Mel Miller's illegal downloading music onto his computer without his knowledge.  He is being sued by the music industry for using Slime Wire to download his music. Plaintiffs a.k.a. the music industry are the copyright owners of exclusive rights under United States copyright law with respect to certain copyrighted sound recordings.  The music industry believes that the acts of infringement by K.C. Jones was willful and intentional, in disregard of and with indifference to the rights of the music industry.
