This last week, there were ten students who went to Washington D.C. for the National Walk for Life. Those ten students were accompanied by six students from Grand Island Central Catholic. Five of the students left on Friday January 18, 2008 and the last five left on January 19, 2008 at 3:30 A.M. While they were there, they went sightseeing. The went to the Air and Space Museum, the Holocaust Museum, Arlington, JFK’s grave, to the top of the Washington Monument, and to the Art Meseum. Some of the students went to the World War II memorial, the Korean War Monument, Vietnam Wall, and the Lincoln Memorial. On Monday, January 21, 2008, the group went to Mass at the Basilica. The Basilica is the biggest church in the western hemisphere. On Tuesday, January 22, 2008, they went to mass at the Verizon Center. After the mass, they went to the Walk for Life where hundred of thousands of people were there to show their support the pro-life cause.
Thank You…….From Everyone at Aquinas and St. Mary’s

Last Monday, everyone was thinking about what their Lent promise would be. Last Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. On Wednesday and Thursday, everyone was talking about their promises. They were talking about if they had kept them so far, or if their promises might have to be switched a little. There was an all school Mass that day. On Friday, there were Stations of the Cross. That activity was scheduled for Block 1A. Next Friday, it will probably be scheduled for Block 1B. Each week, there will be Mass scheduled on Tuesday and Stations of the Cross scheduled for Friday. This Friday, the 15, there is no school, so there will be no Stations of the Cross on that day.

Aquinas High School Prom 2008
Snowy Soiree
Dear Parents,
Prom is once again quickly approaching! we would like to inform you that the itinerary has changed making coronation, meal, mass, and pictures later this year. After talking with students and the post prom committee, it was decided to move back the times, so that the dance would not be too long, but would end at midnight. This will create less wait time for students between prom and post prom, which cannot start any earlier that 1 AM due to the bowling alley schedule. We hope these schedule changes will make things easier for everyone involved.
Also, we would like to remind you of the proper prom attire guidelines as set forth by Aquinas parents.
Ladies:
High School ladies may wear formal dresses. Nothing low-cut (avoid cleavage) or backless is permitted. Dress hemline and/or slits must be at least 2 inches below the fingertips, and midriffs may NOT be exposed. Girls need to have their shoulders covered for Mass. If an inappropriate dress is worn the student will be asked to make adjustments to the dress until it is appropriate, wear a t-shirt, or be sent home.
Guys:
High School gentlemen are to wear suits and ties or tuxedoes. Also, they need to follow the Aquinas dress code and be clean shaven.
If students are bringing an outside date please be considerate and share the dress code expectations, so the outside date does not feel out of place.
Thank you for your support! Mrs. Timoney and Miss Gilger look forward to an enjoyable Prom Event, and one of the best ways you can help is by having your child follow the guidelines set.
Thanks again!
