Supporting Research for Intervention Reading of nonfiction and fiction materials efficiently and with comprehension depends, in part, on the ability to anticipate and discern the structure of the text. These abilities must be systematically taught and students held accountable for their use in guided practice in all curricular areas. |

Students will apply knowledge of text structure in the reading of class materials by using a variety of concept organizers: *Teachers identify the text structures used in reading materials for courses *Teachers develop concept organizers to be used as comprehension aids for the teaching and learning of their specific course reading materials *Teachers teach students how to choose and use organizers for their specific course reading materials *Teachers hold students accountable for selecting concept organizers and the reading and comprehension of course materials |
