Mrs. Swanson grew up in Omaha. Mrs. Swanson went to high school at Omaha North High School in 1966. After high school Mrs. Swanson continued her education at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln in 1970 getting a B.S. degree in Education. She also did graduate work at University of Nebraska- Omaha, and University of Nebraska- Kearney. For work experience she started at Centennial Public Schools for one year. Then went to Bunker Hill for two years, and then continued to Leigh High School in which she has been here for 24 years.
    Mrs. Swanson is married to Ken Swanson. Mrs. Swanson and Mr. Swanson had three children, Jason, Kenny, and Andy. She also has five grandchildren, Kaden, Addison, Samantha, Zack, and Payton. Other members of her family include her cat, Misty. She was also the first women to serve on the Leigh Village Board
