Learning, Learning, Learning! Wow!  The school year is half over already! Mrs. Schmidt is keeping us on task and learning! In Math, we just finished a short unit on percentages and are now beginning a unit on fractions.    In Language, we wrote thank-you's after Christmas and are now working on parts of speech. In Science, we have been dissecting owl pellets and will begin a unit on chemical reactions. In Social Studies, we are studying Central America. In Reading, we finished "Sounder" and are starting "Island of the Blue Dolphins". In Spelling we are finding words in our reading book. We are also looking up the definitions for the words that we have to find. In Health, we had a test on Friday, October 5th over Unit #1, called Mental and Emotional Health. Mr.Thoms is our teacher, he is nice. Our book is called Totally Awesome Health. Now we are starting Unit #2 Family and Social Health. In P.E. we are playing flag football. It is fun. We are going to start volleyball pretty soon. After we take the test on flag football. In Computer Class, we just finished learning how to do an effective online search for good information. We learned how to use good "Key Words".  We also learned how to find the author's name, name of website, title of article, date and URL of a website and how to cite our source correctly.  We are now combining our research skills with our word processing skills to research and type a report about a topic of our choice.   We will then add a title page and works cited page to complete our reports.
