About Cross County
Formed: The Cross County Community school district was formed during the 2001-2002 school year. During this year, the Stromsburg Vikings and the Benedict Eagles brought together their students, staff and communities to create the Cross County Cougars. We enjoyed our first year together in 2002-2003.
Location: As time has passed, the need for updated facilities has become a concern. The site of the new Cross County Community School is located approximately three miles south of Stromsburg and/or five miles north of Benedict. Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade will all be housed under one roof starting in the fall of 2008.
Mission Statement:
The mission of Cross County Community Schools, in cooperation with family and community, is to provide appropriate educational opportunities in a safe, supportive environment promoting responsible citizenship and life-long learning in a global society.
