On April 12, 2002, approximately 4 acres of unmowed grass was burned at the Prairie. Two members of the Wachiska Audubon Society came out with equipment and were assisted by members from Schuyler Central High School Ag classes and by Steve Heinish, Professor at Central Community College - Columbus.
